Enabled Robotics is developing a robotic platform comprised of a mobile robot and a robot arm, a so-called mobile manipulator.

Where substantial work has focused on safety around robot arms and mobile robots individually, safety related to them combined is much more novel territory. Within COVR we will therefore address these safety challenges to arrive at a product which can be classified as a collaborative mobile manipulator.

The work to be performed in the project is identifying relevant standards and best practices, optimizing our current platform accordingly with respect to safety including updating the mechanical design and augmenting with additional sensors for risk reduction.

Furthermore, we will develop a test protocol for risk assessment of collaborative mobile manipulators and their applications, as required for a CE marking.
